Selection of Tempus projects

Tempus is managed centrally by the European Commission, i.e. by its Education, Audiovisual and Culture Agency Executive Agency (EACEA) which works in close cooperation with the European Commission's Directorate General Education and Culture, the Directorate-General for Enlargement and the EuropeAid.

The European Commission relies on network of Tempus offices in the Member states and Partner Countries. The role of National Contact Points/ National Tempus Offices is to act as reference points, providing information and otherwise helping participating institutions. In addition, in Partner Countries, Tempus offices are involved in monitoring of project implementation.

The proposals for Joint Projects and Structural Measures are received and assessed by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). The Directorates-General for Education and Culture, the Directorate-General for Enlargement, the Directorate-General for External Relations and EuropeAid will be closely associated in the process.

The European Commission takes a final decision on selection, having consulted the Partner Country authorities, Delegations of the European Commission and National Tempus offices.
